About
Felipe Carrelli is a Brazilian filmmaker, science communicator and transmedia artist. For almost two decades he has moved between documentary and fiction, virtual reality, interactive media, urban intervention and science communication, telling stories with scientists and communities about the ways people look at the sky.
He has directed six feature films, from Light-Year (2015) to 間 (2026), his last. Since 2014 he has co-coordinated GalileoMobile, an itinerant astronomy programme for communities that are hard to reach. With the Saharawi refugee community he co-created Desert Stars, a transmedia project in VR, 360° video and cinema that became his master’s research at the Graduate Program in Creative Media (PPGMC/UFRJ).
He holds a degree in Image and Sound from UFSCar (2010) and a specialisation in Science Dissemination and Popularisation from Fiocruz (2019).
